Simply Learning Tuition Ltd

job description

Transform a Learning Journey: A-Level Sociology & Law Tutors

Simply Learning Tuition is seeking two dedicated specialists—one for Sociology and one for Law—to provide high-impact home schooling for a motivated Year 12 student in Willesden Green. This student is bright and eager to succeed but has faced challenges with the teaching style and social dynamics of her current sixth form. We are looking for tutors who can move beyond standard instruction to act as academic mentors, helping her rebuild her confidence and rediscover her passion for these subjects. This is an opportunity to make a profound difference in a student’s educational trajectory through personalized, one-to-one support.

The Role & Schedule

  • Target Student: Year 12 (A-Level), highly motivated but currently struggling with the college environment.

  • Location: In-person tuition in Willesden Green, North West London.

  • Intensity: High-frequency, intensive sessions to start (approximately 2 hours per subject, 5 days a week).

  • Timing: Weekdays from 10:00 am onwards; potential for weekend sessions if required.

  • Long-term Outlook: Initially full-time home schooling, with the potential to transition into a hybrid model with her college as her confidence grows.

Subject Focus Areas

For both roles, tutors will need to navigate the core components of the A-Level specifications:

Sociology Tutor

  • Core Themes: Socialization, culture, and identity; social differentiation, power, and stratification.

  • Key Topics: Families and households, education, research methods, and sociological theory.

  • Objective: Develop the student’s ability to critically analyze social structures and evaluate complex theoretical perspectives.

Law Tutor

  • The Legal System: Understanding the role of the courts, legal personnel, and access to justice.

  • Substantive Law: Focus on Criminal Law, Tort, and the Nature of Law.

  • Objective: Equip the student with the skills to apply legal rules to problem scenarios and construct clear, persuasive legal arguments.

Candidate Profile

  • Expertise: Extensive knowledge of the A-Level Sociology or Law curriculum (AQA, OCR, or Pearson Edexcel).

  • Empathy: The ability to provide a supportive, non-judgmental learning environment that prioritizes student wellbeing.

  • Mentorship: Experience in helping students overcome academic anxiety or “learning blocks.”

  • Communication: Clear, engaging teaching style that translates complex theories into digestible concepts.

  • Availability: Flexible and able to commit to an intensive weekday morning/early afternoon schedule.

Compensation & Application

  • Hourly Fee: £60 per hour.

  • Start Date: As soon as mutually convenient.

  • How to Apply: Send your CV, relevant experience, and full availability to tommy@simplylearningtuition.co.uk.
