Role Overview

Wingham Wildlife Park is offering a Level 3 Keeper and Aquarist Apprenticeship for individuals passionate about animal care and wildlife management. This full-time role provides hands-on experience in husbandry, enrichment, and public engagement while completing a nationally recognised apprenticeship.

Wingham Wildlife Park, located near Canterbury, Kent, is Kent’s fastest growing family-owned wildlife park, home to the largest number of animal species in the county. The park is renowned for its dedication to animal welfare, conservation, and visitor education, offering extensive training and career opportunities for aspiring zookeepers and aquarists.

Key Responsibilities

• Daily care and husbandry of birds and other assigned species

• Prepare diets and assist with feeding routines

• Provide enrichment and support animal training

• Conduct observational note-taking and maintain accurate records

• Deliver public talks and enhance guest experience

• Maintain exhibits and general animal areas

• Work towards completing a Level 3 Keeper and Aquarist Apprenticeship

• Participate in on-site and online training sessions

Candidate Requirements

• Passion for animal care and conservation

• Willingness to work weekends, bank holidays, and school holidays

• Flexible and able to work a rota-based schedule, 5 out of 7 days

• Commitment to learning and completing the apprenticeship program

Working Pattern & Benefits

• Full-time apprenticeship role

• Hours: 08:00–16:30 or 09:00–17:30, Monday to Sunday on rota

• Positions available in Carnivores section

• Paid training with on-site mentoring and online learning
