Job Description

Wild Rumpus CIC is seeking a Volunteer and Skills-sharing Coordinator to join their Creative Development team. Based in the beautiful woods of Cheshire (near Stockport), Wild Rumpus is a social enterprise that produces extraordinary outdoor arts events, including the renowned Just So Festival.

This is a part-time, 9-month fixed-term role (2 days per week) starting in March 2026. It is designed for someone who is as comfortable with a spreadsheet as they are in a pair of wellies. You will be the primary point of contact for a diverse community of volunteers, placements, and emerging makers, ensuring their journey from recruitment to on-site delivery is supportive, educational, and inspiring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Community Coordination: Manage the end-to-end journey for volunteers and emerging producers, from initial recruitment to on-site induction.

  • Event Delivery: Act as the “on-the-ground galvanizer” during live events, specifically leading volunteer management at Just So Festival 2026.

  • Administration & Logistics: Use project management tools and spreadsheets to create complex rotas, manage databases, and coordinate schedules.

  • Skills Development: Plan and deliver workshops, training sessions, and skill-sharing touchpoints to help volunteers grow their professional capabilities.

  • Welfare & Pastoral Care: Provide dedicated support to volunteers, ensuring their access requirements are met and their wellbeing is prioritized.

  • Digital Engagement: Manage the volunteer Facebook page and Mailchimp newsletters, working with the communications team to tell the story of the Wild Rumpus community.

About You

Essential Skills:

  • Event Experience: Proven background working on live events, festivals, or large-scale outdoor productions.

  • People Management: Experience in recruiting and supporting staff or volunteers with a focus on community building.

  • Operational Excellence: Strong organizational skills with experience in scheduling, creating rotas, and navigating on-site issues.

  • Digital Literacy: Confident using databases and digital project management systems.

  • Values-Led: A kind, empathetic approach with a clear commitment to safeguarding, inclusivity, and staff welfare.

Desirable:

  • Direct experience working specifically on festival sites or in outdoor/nature-based environments.

Role Details & Benefits

  • Salary: £26,500 pro rata per annum (approx. £10,600 for the 2-day/week contract).

  • Contract: 9-month fixed term (March – November 2026), with potential for permanency.

  • Extended Hours: During live event periods (e.g., 10 days on-site for Just So Festival), additional days will be required and will be paid accordingly.

  • Location: Hybrid/Outdoor (Office near Stockport/Cheshire).
