Investment Banking Vice President | Consumer & Retail Group

Barclays is seeking a high-caliber Vice President to join our premier Consumer & Retail Group (CRG) coverage team in London. In this pivotal leadership role, you will be at the heart of Canary Wharf’s deal-making landscape, driving the origination and execution of complex Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) and financing transactions.

As a VP, you are the bridge between strategic vision and technical excellence. You will lead the charge on intricate financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence while serving as a primary point of contact for corporate clients. This is a “Certified Role” under the PRA & FCA, designed for a seasoned professional who combines deep sector expertise with the “LEAD” mindset required to mentor the next generation of banking talent.

Key Responsibilities & Deal Execution

• M&A Advisory: Lead the execution of mid-to-large cap M&A transactions, taking ownership of financial modeling, valuation techniques, and transaction documentation.

• Origination & Strategy: Identify new business opportunities and generate innovative ideas that expand the bank’s client footprint across the Consumer and Retail sectors.

• Client Stewardship: Build and maintain high-trust relationships with corporate executives, understanding their financial goals to propose bespoke investment banking solutions.

• Sustainability Champion: Engage with clients on Energy Transition and Sustainability, integrating climate strategies into their long-term financial planning and transition goals.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Capital Markets, Sales & Trading, and Risk Management to deliver integrated, multi-product solutions for complex client needs.

• Team Leadership: Train and coach associates and analysts, ensuring excellence in presentation materials and analytical output while fostering an inclusive environment.

Requirements for Success

• Sector Expertise: A solid track record of executing transactions specifically within the Consumer & Retail sector at a major investment bank.

• Technical Mastery: First-class skills in complex financial modeling, due diligence, and interpretative analytical thinking.

• Leadership Gravitas: Proven experience leading client presentations and influencing senior stakeholders through sophisticated negotiation.

• Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of professional ethics and the UK regulatory environment (PRA/FCA Individual Accountabilities Regulations).
