Gleeson Recruitment Group
Job Description
We are seeking a Vendor Portfolio Executive to bring clarity, structure, and strategic insight to our technology vendor portfolios. In this role, you will act as the internal subject matter expert on product lifecycles, roadmap shifts, and portfolio positioning. You will be the essential link between our technology partners and our internal teams—empowering Sales, Marketing, and Procurement to make decisions that are both technically sound and commercially aligned.
Notably, this is a strategic enablement role. While you will work closely with external partners, you will not be responsible for direct price negotiations or purchasing; instead, your influence will be felt through the intelligence and structure you provide to the commercial engine of the business.
Key Responsibilities
-
Lifecycle Management: Maintain a high-definition view of product lifecycles, ensuring the business is prepared for new releases and proactively managing “End-of-Life” (EoL) and “End-of-Service-Life” (EoSL) transitions.
-
Roadmap Translation: Distill complex, technical vendor roadmaps into practical, actionable internal guidance that can be easily understood by non-technical stakeholders.
-
Commercial Enablement: Support the Sales team with sharp product positioning and competitive insights to help win deals and retain clients.
-
Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinate with Procurement and Marketing to ensure that our internal inventory, messaging, and campaign execution are perfectly synced with vendor trajectories.
-
Information Governance: Maintain meticulous records of product documentation, ensuring that our portfolio database is the “single source of truth” for the organization.
About You
-
Experience: Background in product portfolio management or commercial enablement, specifically within the IT or B2B Technology sectors.
-
Technical Fluency: A strong understanding of how software and hardware vendors bring products to market (GTM models).
-
Communication: The ability to take a 50-page technical whitepaper and turn it into a 5-bullet point “Commercial “Cheat Sheet.”
-
Organisational Mastery: Highly structured with an eye for detail; you enjoy creating order out of complex data sets.
Role Impact: The Strategic Bridge
The Vendor Portfolio Executive sits at the center of the technology value chain. Your work ensures that the business avoids the risks of selling obsolete technology while maximizing the opportunities presented by emerging vendor innovations.

| Sales | Providing the “why” behind a product move to help them close deals. |
| Marketing | Ensuring campaigns don’t launch for products that are about to be discontinued. |
| Procurement | Providing data on upcoming releases to help them manage stock levels effectively. |
| Leadership | Delivering data-driven insights on which vendor portfolios are growing vs. shrinking. |
