Urban Outfitters Display Coordinator – White City, London

Urban Outfitters Europe

Job Summary: Urban Outfitters Display Coordinator

Urban Outfitters Europe is seeking a highly creative and hands-on Display Coordinator for their flagship location in White City (Westfield). This is not a typical visual merchandising role; it is a position for a maker and an artist. You will be responsible for transforming corporate direction into immersive, 3D environments that reflect the “Urban philosophy” of art, music, and contemporary culture. If you have a background in fine arts, carpentry, or design and want to apply those skills to a commercial, high-traffic retail environment, this is your opportunity to lead the aesthetic vision of a major London store.

Requirements and Skills

  • Artistic Background: A strong foundation in Fine Arts, Design, or Architecture.

  • Technical Craft: Proficiency in carpentry, painting, paper hanging, and the creation of 3D installations.

  • Tool Proficiency: Experience with power tools is a significant advantage.

  • Commercial Awareness: Ability to develop creative ideas into working solutions that drive sales and fit within a seasonal budget.

  • Communication: Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to mentor retail teams and collaborate with Head Office.

  • Portfolio: Candidates are encouraged to submit a professional portfolio showcasing their craftsmanship and 3D work.

Role Overview

As the Display Coordinator, you are the architect of the store’s “vibe.” Working alongside the Visual Merchandising Manager (VMM), you will interpret seasonal “books” to build unique window displays and in-store installations. This role is deeply collaborative; you will attend daily meetings and Monday walkthroughs to align your creative projects with store performance data. You will also act as a mentor, teaching “peers” the visual standards and tool safety necessary to maintain a visionary retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creative Execution: Interpret company direction to create unique, artistic environments using high-level craftsmanship.

  • Project Management: Plan and prioritize display projects to ensure the customer experience is never inhibited during builds.

  • Budget & Operations: Manage the display budget, track expenses, and efficiently utilize materials (including recycled elements).

  • Mentorship: Train the wider retail team on visual expectations and tool management, fostering a culture of “peers teaching peers.”

  • Safety & Maintenance: Maintain an organized display room and ensure all safety standards are met regarding tools and overhead installations.

  • Reporting: Submit “Good Idea Sheets” and photo layouts to Head Office to influence future global display concepts.

The Perks

  • Discounts: Up to 40% off at all URBN brands (Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People).

  • Work-Life Balance: “Life Leave” (one day a year for big life events) in addition to annual leave.

  • Health: Private Medical Insurance (for eligible staff) and an Employee Assistance Program.

  • Travel: Season ticket loans and Cycle to Work schemes.

  • Development: Structured support and continued learning within the URBN creative network.

Application Tip: Portfolio Focus

Peer Note: Since this role requires 3D construction and carpentry, your portfolio should highlight physical builds rather than just digital designs. Show photos of textures, scale, and “behind-the-scenes” process shots of how you turn a concept into a physical structure.
