NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is recruiting two forward-thinking Test Leads to join the NES Technology Service (NTS). This is a high-impact opportunity to provide leadership within the Digital Front Door programme, a strategic initiative designed to transform how health and care professionals and the Scottish public interact with digital services. Operating within a cloud-based, agile environment, you will shape robust testing strategies that ensure the delivery of safe, secure, and innovative technology products.

Core Requirements and Skills

  • Leadership Excellence: A confident leader with highly developed skills in decision-making, conflict management, and team motivation.

  • Agile Expertise: A deep understanding of agile roles and the ability to collaborate effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Specialist Testing Experience: Extensive experience in software testing, specifically leading the planning, execution, and documentation phases.

  • Exploratory Testing: Extensive experience with structured exploratory testing methods.

  • Technical Versatility: Experience testing web and mobile applications across various browsers and operating systems, including Accessibility (WCAG), Security, and Usability testing.

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to break down complex technical solutions into component models to facilitate test ideas and stakeholder discussions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Implementation: Shape and lead the implementation of robust testing strategies essential for NES Technology’s business goals.

  • Product Delivery: Ensure the “Digital Front Door” products are delivered to high-quality standards, directly informing the delivery of national digital health services.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Problem-solve with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure maximum value and continuous improvement of the testing process.

  • Mentorship: Provide exceptional leadership and guidance to the Test Team within the Product & Delivery Business Unit.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all solutions meet strict standards for safety, security, and usability before deployment.
