Job Description

Withington Girls’ School—named The Sunday Times’ North-West Independent School of the Decade (2021)—is seeking a well-qualified and experienced Teacher of French (Maternity Cover). Role Overview

  • Contract: Full-time, one-year fixed term (Maternity Cover).

  • Duration: September 2026 – August 2027.

  • Salary: Competitive (Independent Sector).

  • Key Stages: KS3, KS4 (GCSE), and KS5 (A-Level), including university application preparation.

  • Additional Scope: For interested candidates, Subject Lead responsibilities may be available. There is also the potential to teach Spanish up to at least KS3; please specify your ability to do so in your application.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality French instruction that fosters a genuine love of learning and fulfills each pupil’s potential.

  • Design and implement innovative lessons that extend beyond standard examination requirements.

  • Support students through the A-Level curriculum and provide specialized guidance for those applying to university for Modern Foreign Languages (MFL).

  • Contribute to the school’s wide breadth of enrichment and extracurricular opportunities.

  • Maintain the highest standards of academic excellence and pastoral care, in line with the school’s ethos.
