Tameside College is seeking a dedicated Teacher in Electrical Installation to join our team in Ashton-Under-Lyne. Whether you are an experienced lecturer or a time-served sparky looking to transition from the tools into the classroom, this is a pivotal role in our “journey to outstanding.” You will be working in a state-of-the-art environment—part of the £100 million+ Vision Tameside strategy—helping students from diverse backgrounds master the trade, from vocational study programmes to higher-level apprenticeships.
Requirements, Qualifications and Skills

Trade Expertise: Must be qualified to at least Level 3 in Electrical Installation.

Education Standards: Literacy and Numeracy at Level 2 or higher is essential.

Teaching Credentials: Level 4 Teaching Qualification (Cert Ed/PGCE/BEd) is preferred. However, candidates must be willing to achieve a Level 5 Diploma (DTLLS) within 3 years of appointment.

Assessor Status: Relevant assessment qualifications such as IQA, A1, or V1 are required.

Personal Traits: Enthusiastic, resilient, and highly motivated with a commitment to continuous professional development (CPD).
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver innovative teaching programmes using a variety of learning styles to meet diverse student needs.

Develop curriculum materials that align with current industry standards and awarding body requirements.

Monitor and assess learner progress both in the college workshops and during work experience placements.

Set and manage highly personalised progress targets for adult learners and apprentices.

Maintain the highest standards of quality in line with the college’s safeguarding and health and safety policies.

Note: Flexibility is required to work up to two evenings per week (with hours deducted from your daytime schedule).
