Support Worker – Learning Disability – Supported Living

Rosaires Care

job description

We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join our team in Northwich, providing high-quality, personalized care for adults with learning disabilities. In this permanent role, you will support individuals across a wide age range (20–80), helping them lead fulfilling lives while promoting their dignity and independence. This is a “person-centered” role where you aren’t just a caregiver, but a facilitator of personal growth and community engagement.

Key Requirements

  • Experience: Previous experience in a care or support setting is preferred.

  • Mobility: A full UK driving license is highly preferred to assist individuals with community access.

  • Attributes: A commitment to a person-centered approach, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting others.

  • Flexibility: Ability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and sleep-in duties.

  • Compliance: Successful candidates will undergo full training and must be committed to ongoing professional development.

As a Support Worker, your daily impact is profound. You will be responsible for creating a warm, inclusive home environment where residents feel safe and empowered. Your tasks will range from supporting individuals with their personal goals and hobbies to assisting with household management and medication administration. You will also play a key role in community integration, accompanying residents on outings and activities. Led by a supportive management team, you will work collaboratively to ensure that every individual receives care that is tailored to their specific needs and aspirations.

Understanding Learning Disabilities & Support

Support work involves a holistic approach to care, focusing on the “Active Support” model to maximize independence:

  • Daily Living Skills: Assisting with cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene while encouraging the individual to participate as much as possible.

  • Communication: Utilizing various tools (such as PECS or Makaton) to ensure residents can express their choices and needs.

  • Health & Wellbeing: Monitoring physical health, administering medication correctly, and supporting emotional stability.

  • Social Inclusion: Helping individuals maintain relationships and participate in local Northwich community events.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Competitive Pay: £12.60 – £18.90 per hour (depending on shift/experience), plus an additional flat rate for sleep-in duties.

  • Financial Security: Permanent, guaranteed-hour contracts and a company pension scheme.

  • Professional Growth: Comprehensive induction, full training, and clear paths for career development.

  • Wellbeing: Access to wellbeing support services and employee discount schemes.

  • Environment: A supportive, in-person work setting with a dedicated team of peers and senior managers.

How the Shift Pattern Works

To provide 24/7 care, the team operates on a rotational basis:

  • Day/Evening: Supporting active hours, meals, and community outings.

  • Sleep-ins: Staying overnight at the service to provide safety and emergency support if required (paid as a separate allowance).

  • Weekends: Ensuring residents have a full social calendar and leisure time.
