Job Overview

As a Supermarket Assistant in New Malden, you’ll support customers throughout their visit – from answering questions and recommending products to replenishing stock and keeping the branch clean and welcoming. You’ll work flexibly across different areas as needed, from checkouts to shop floor, always delivering friendly, knowledgeable service.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and serve customers, offering advice on products and food and drink trends
• Replenish shelves and displays, ensuring stock is rotated, priced correctly and well presented
• Carry out housekeeping tasks to keep the shop floor clean, tidy and safe
• Handle cash and card transactions at the till in line with set procedures
• Support colleagues in any area of the branch as required to meet customer demand
• Maintain business dress and hygiene standards in line with Partnership guidelines

Requirements

• Genuine interest in food and drink, with a desire to share that passion with customers
• Pride in delivering work to a high standard and keeping the store “shop‑shape”
• Friendly, helpful manner with good communication skills
• Willingness to work flexibly across different departments and shifts
• Ability to follow procedures accurately for payments, stock and housekeeping

• Pay: £11.50–£12.75 per hour, negotiable depending on skills and experience
• Location: New Malden branch (assessors may cover multiple London branches; preferences discussed at interview)
