The University of Hull is seeking a Study Abroad Manager to lead its diverse range of international exchange and summer programs. This is a high-visibility role at the heart of the University’s global strategy, offering you the chance to shape the international experiences of both incoming and outgoing students. You will join a prestigious institution that prioritizes equality, diversity, and inclusion, providing a supportive environment where innovation in student mobility is celebrated. If you are ready to manage complex workloads while fostering global connections, this role offers a rewarding platform to champion the University’s inclusive values.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements
-
Manage diverse programs to support international mobility, including in-year study abroad with exchange partners and summer opportunities.
-

-
Organize end-to-end student support, including pre-arrival communication, induction, and ongoing guidance for both incoming and outgoing students.
-
Drive growth in the number of fee-paying Visiting Students and support those on exchange or short courses.
-
Exhibit strong inter-cultural competency and respect, aligning with the University’s global and inclusive values.

The Role
As the Study Abroad Manager, you are the primary architect of the student’s international journey. Your role is split between strategic relationship management and operational excellence. On one hand, you will act as a diplomat, maintaining and expanding the University’s network of global exchange partners. On the other, you will lead the logistical charge, ensuring that students—whether coming to Hull or heading overseas—have the communication and support they need to succeed. A significant focus of this role is commercial and strategic: you will prioritize the growth of visiting student programs while ensuring that every participant experiences the high level of cultural competency that the University of Hull represents.
Sector Insight: Higher Education Global Mobility
As you cluster this twenty-sixth role, you can see how it integrates with your existing Hull data:
-
Strategic Alignment: This role shares a “Global Outreach” DNA with your International Student Recruitment Officer and IDEAL Project roles, but focuses more on the logistics and management of the experience rather than just the initial recruitment.
-
Managerial Complexity: Unlike the Recruitment Manager (Education Sector) which focuses on staffing, this role focuses on Inter-institutional Agreements, making it semantically similar to your Bid Writer and Project Manager roles in terms of complex contract and stakeholder management.
-
Cultural Competency: This is a recurring high-priority skill in your “Education & Public Sector” cluster, appearing in roles from Social Work to Science Teaching.
