Storage Engineer

Job Description

Take the lead on large‑scale storage modernisation for a major banking programme as a Contract Storage Engineer through Investigo. You’ll design, implement and support enterprise storage platforms built on Pure Storage and Dell technologies, working three days a week on‑site in Sheffield, Birmingham or London.

Role Overview

Partnering with a leading consultancy on a high‑profile financial services project, you’ll focus on delivering resilient, scalable storage solutions. You’ll be hands‑on across design, deployment and BAU support, collaborating with infrastructure, network and application teams to ensure low‑latency, highly available storage for mission‑critical workloads.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and configure enterprise storage solutions based on Pure Storage and Dell architectures
• Deploy and migrate storage platforms in line with banking security, resilience and performance requirements
• Optimise capacity, performance, replication and backup strategies across multiple environments
• Troubleshoot complex storage incidents, working closely with other infrastructure teams and vendors
• Contribute to standards, runbooks and technical documentation for storage services
• Support change, release and incident management processes in an ITIL/enterprise environment
• Provide technical input into roadmaps and improvement initiatives relating to storage and data services

Skills and Experience

• Strong, recent experience with Pure Storage platforms (design, implementation and support)
• Strong, recent experience with Dell storage solutions (e.g. PowerStore, Unity, EqualLogic, Compellent or similar)
• Proven track record delivering storage projects in enterprise or banking environments
• Solid understanding of SAN, NAS, fibre channel, iSCSI, replication and snapshot technologies
• Comfortable working in a structured, change‑controlled environment, ideally with ITIL exposure
• Ability to work independently on complex tasks while collaborating effectively with wider teams
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain storage concepts to technical and non‑technical stakeholders

Engagement Details

• Contract role, inside IR35 (PAYE or umbrella engagement)
• 3 days per week on‑site at one of: Sheffield, Birmingham or London (remaining days remote as required by client)
• Working on a long‑term programme via a leading consultancy for a banking end‑client
