Staff Nurse (RMN) – Chine Ward

Chine Ward is a specialized 11-bedded female treatment unit providing high-quality care for women aged 18–64 experiencing a range of mental health illnesses. Core Requirements and Skills

• Professional Registration: Must be a Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with valid UK registration.

• Clinical Excellence: Ability to manage a caseload and take charge of the ward regularly, maintaining a calm and therapeutic environment.

• Emotional Intelligence: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to remain composed during potentially testing or high-pressure situations.

• Teamwork: A collaborative approach to working within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT).

• Physical Readiness: Fitness and ability to successfully complete the Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) and Breakaway training—a mandatory condition of employment.

• Flexibility: Commitment to participating in 24-hour care rotations.

Key Responsibilities

• Holistic Treatment: Utilize evidence-based interventions to provide high-level care and treatment for women with varied mental health needs.

• Clinical Supervision: Supervise junior staff and mentor students, contributing to a learning culture on the ward.

• Risk Management: Conduct enhanced risk assessments and implement clinical safety plans to protect and empower patients.

• Professional Development: Actively participate in personal development plans, with opportunities for specialized training in DBT, CBT, and enhanced physical health interventions.

• Administrative Accuracy: Maintain high standards of written communication and IT usage for patient records and documentation.

• Salary: Band 5 (£31,049 – £37,796 per annum).

• Location: St Ann’s Hospital, Poole, Dorset.

• Contract: Permanent, Full-time.
