Specialist Physiotherapist (Band 6) – Musculoskeletal (MSK)

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMB) is looking for a highly motivated and ambitious Physiotherapist to join their Musculoskeletal team. This is a rotational role across the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) and the Queen Victoria Centre (QVH) in Morecambe. This position is perfect for an experienced Band 5 looking to step up or an established Band 6 seeking to refine their expertise within a supportive environment that integrates hospital-based care with primary care triage.

Core Requirements and Skills

Professional Registration: Must be a HCPC Registered Physiotherapist.
Education: Honors Degree in Physiotherapy and evidence of relevant post-graduate specialist clinical education.
Experience: Comprehensive rotational experience at a staff grade (Band 5) in core competencies including MSK, Neurology, and Cardio-respiratory care.
Clinical Skills: Strong assessment, prioritisation, and treatment planning skills, with a focus on evidence-based, patient-centred care.
Interpersonal: Excellent written and oral communication skills; a “team player” who thrives in a collaborative environment.
Attendance: Must be able to attend the physical assessment centre in person (no remote interview option).

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Caseload: Manage a diverse MSK caseload, providing evidence-based assessments and treatments for patients at RLI and Morecambe QVH.
Triage Service: Work closely with GP colleagues as part of the Trust’s Physiotherapy Triage Service based within local surgeries, facilitating early intervention and appropriate care pathways.
Acute Services Support: Actively participate in the provision of Orthopaedic and Rehab weekend services on a rotational basis.
Professional Development: Engage in the Annual Development Review programme and contribute to (and learn from) the in-service training programme led by Advanced Physiotherapists.
Service Improvement: Participate in quality initiatives and service development projects to ensure the physiotherapy service remains sustainable and high-quality.
