The Buckinghamshire Priority Dental Service, managed by the CNWL Trust, is inviting applications for a Specialist in Paediatric Dentistry to become a vital part of their community-based dental group. Prospective candidates are required to hold and uphold a specialist registration in Paediatric Dentistry with the GDC and must possess an operational NHS Primary Dental Care Performer Number.
Main Duties of the Job
As the Paediatric clinical lead, you will deliver expert guidance and clinical interventions for children enrolled in the service. Your responsibilities include providing treatment within clinics equipped for sedation and performing domiciliary visits when required. Furthermore, you will manage extensive dental care under general anesthesia at Milton Keynes University, Stoke Mandeville, and Wycombe Hospitals.
You will serve as the primary authority for paediatric safeguarding and oversee the triage of incoming referrals from general practitioners and other sources. In your capacity as a senior practitioner, you will mentor, educate, and supervise various staff members, including community dentists. Given that the role demands support across multiple sites in Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire, a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are mandatory.
Detailed Responsibilities
Working alongside the Clinical Director, the successful applicant will take a lead role in advancing the Paediatric dentistry branch of the service. Clinical care will align with complexity levels 1, 2, and 3a as specified by the Paediatric Dentistry Commissioning Standards. This encompasses sedation, general anesthesia cases, care in secure settings, epidemiological screening, and health promotion. Additionally, you will assist with daily operational management and the direct supervision and professional development of the wider dental team.
