Job Description
Help some of the UK’s largest organisations unlock the value of their data as a Solutions Engineer for Splunk, part of Cisco. You’ll be the technical linchpin on strategic accounts, shaping architectures, proving value, and guiding customers from first conversation to successful adoption.
Role Overview
As a Senior Solutions Engineer focused on Strategic Accounts, you’ll partner closely with account teams and executive stakeholders to understand complex environments and business goals. You’ll design and present Splunk‑based solutions, lead proof‑of‑value engagements, and act as a trusted advisor for customers across security, observability and IT operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as subject-matter expert on Splunk and related Cisco solutions, providing deep technical guidance to strategic customers
- Discover and map customer requirements to tailored architectures that deliver measurable business outcomes
- Build and run proofs of concept / proofs of value, demonstrating ROI and technical fit
- Deliver compelling demos, workshops and executive presentations to technical and non-technical audiences
- Own technical relationships with key champions, influencing long‑term roadmap and adoption
- Troubleshoot and resolve pre‑sales technical obstacles, coordinating with product and support teams
- Provide enablement and training sessions that help customers become self‑sufficient Splunk users
- Represent Cisco and Splunk at events, webinars and conferences, showcasing use cases and best practices
- Contribute to continuous improvement of pre‑sales methodologies, assets and processes across the EMEA team
Skills and Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering or similar customer-facing technical role
- Strong hands-on background with Splunk or comparable platforms in data analytics, log management, or operational intelligence
- Solid understanding of modern IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, and security concepts
- Domain expertise in at least one of: Security Operations, Observability, DevOps, IT Operations, Big Data or Log Management
- Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex technical topics for senior non‑technical stakeholders
- Proven track record working with strategic or enterprise accounts, influencing technical direction and winning consensus
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline; relevant certifications a plus
- Collaborative mindset, comfortable working with sales, product, and customer success teams on joint goals
