Snowflake Migration Lead — Onsite

Job Description

Lead a mission-critical move to modern cloud data platforms as Snowflake Migration Lead with FalconSmartIT in London. You’ll architect the migration roadmap, set engineering standards and direct a senior team to deliver a robust, scalable Snowflake ecosystem for the business.

Role Overview

As Data Engineering Lead, you’ll be the primary owner of a large-scale Snowflake migration. You’ll design target architectures, oversee ingestion and transformation with Fivetran and dbt, govern coding practices, and coordinate closely with stakeholders to ensure timelines, quality and business outcomes are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end Snowflake migration strategy and delivery plan
• Define data engineering standards, best practices and reusable patterns for Snowflake, Fivetran and dbt
• Lead, mentor and manage a team of data engineers, allocating work and reviewing outputs
• Design and oversee implementation of data models, pipelines and performance optimisation
• Collaborate with business, product and analytics teams to prioritise requirements and manage expectations
• Establish monitoring, incident management and documentation for the new platform
• Communicate progress, risks and mitigation plans clearly to senior stakeholders

Skills and Experience

• 15+ years’ experience in data engineering, including leadership of complex programmes
• Deep technical expertise with Snowflake, including performance tuning, security and cost optimisation
• Strong hands-on experience with Fivetran, dbt and modern ELT/ETL best practices
• Proven track record managing and developing high-performing data engineering teams
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills
• Comfortable working onsite with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
