Based in Bristol with excellent hybrid working flexibility, you’ll oversee technical delivery across a substantial geographical patch covering Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, and Wiltshire – managing a varied portfolio of developments from traditional build housing to contemporary apartment blocks.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Technical Director, you’ll play a pivotal leadership role within the regional team, managing 4 direct reports and ensuring technical excellence across multiple live developments. This is a genuinely strategic position where you’ll shape technical standards, mentor your team, and drive best practice across the region.

You’ll have real autonomy, genuine support from senior leadership, and the opportunity to make your mark on how technical delivery is managed across one of the business’s strongest performing regions.

Key Responsibilities:
• Leading and developing a team of 4 Technical Managers/Coordinators across the region
• Overseeing technical coordination across multiple developments from traditional build housing to apartment blocks
• Supporting the Technical Director in setting regional technical strategy and standards
• Managing complex technical issues and providing guidance to your team on challenging schemes
• Ensuring compliance with building regulations, NHBC standards, and warranty requirements across all sites
• Building strong relationships with Local Authorities, Building Control, and external consultants
• Driving continuous improvement in technical processes and efficiency
• Reviewing and signing off technical submissions, specifications, and design packages
• Supporting pre-acquisition technical due diligence on new land opportunities
• Mentoring and developing your team to build future technical leaders

Who We’re Looking For

This role is perfect if you’re:
• A Technical Manager ready to step up into your first senior leadership role with direct reports
• An established Senior Technical Manager looking for a new challenge with a respected housebuilder
• Someone who thrives on both technical excellence and people development

You’ll have:
• Extensive experience working as a Technical Manager within large-scale housebuilding
• Proven track record managing technical delivery across multiple developments simultaneously
• Strong knowledge of traditional build construction methods, plus ideally some apartment/RC frame exposure
• Experience working with NHBC, building regulations, and warranty sign-offs
• Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire and develop others
• The confidence to make decisions and take ownership of a large geographical area
• Ideally some line management experience, though not essential for the right candidate stepping up

Ideal Background:
• Experience with national or regional housebuilders operating at scale
• Understanding of the full technical lifecycle from planning through to CML handover
• Degree qualified or equivalent in relevant discipline (Architecture, Construction Management, Building Surveying)
• Full UK driving licence essential due to regional coverage
