Our client, a prominent and reliable haulage company, is seeking a highly experienced and dependable Senior HGV Driver (Class 1) to join their dedicated transport team. This role is essential for ensuring the efficient and safe movement of goods across the UK. Based out of our depot in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, UK , you will be responsible for long-distance deliveries and collections, operating modern, well-maintained Class 1 vehicles. We are looking for professional drivers who prioritize safety, punctuality, and customer service. This position requires adherence to all driving regulations, including hours of service and vehicle maintenance checks. You will represent our company with professionalism on the road and at customer sites.
Key Responsibilities: Operate Class 1 HGV vehicles safely and efficiently for long-distance deliveries and collections. Transport goods in accordance with delivery schedules and routes. Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring roadworthiness and reporting any defects promptly. Adhere strictly to all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations. Comply with all legal requirements related to driver hours (tacho regulations) and working time directives. Ensure loads are secured correctly and safely before departure. Maintain accurate delivery records, logs, and other required documentation. Provide excellent customer service to clients at delivery and collection points. Report any issues or delays encountered during transit to the transport office promptly. Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the vehicle interior and exterior. Assist with loading and unloading where required and feasible. Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner at all times. Participate in regular driver training and development programs.
Qualifications: Valid UK Class 1 (Category C+E) HGV driving license. Valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) card. Valid Digi-Tacho card. A minimum of 3 years of proven experience driving Class 1 vehicles. A clean driving license record, with minimal endorsements. Demonstrable knowledge of UK road networks and traffic laws. Excellent understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety procedures. Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Experience with different types of haulage (e.g., curtain-siders, reefers) is an advantage. This on-site role is crucial to our operations in Wolverhampton .
