HaloBraid
Job description
HaloBraid is a venture-backed hair technology company tackling one of the most complex unsolved challenges in robotics: the world’s first robotic hair-braiding system. In an industry where 8 billion hours are spent braiding hair annually, our mission is to return that time to users by reducing appointments from hours to mere minutes. Having moved beyond the R&D phase, we are now deploying our systems in real-world salon workflows. We are looking for an Embedded Systems Engineer to join our Cambridge, MA lab and help refine the mechatronic machines that integrate computer vision, compliant fiber manipulation, and advanced robotics to revolutionize a $300B market.
Requirements
• Experience with motion control for a variety of actuator types (e.g. stepper motors, servo motors, brushed and brushless DC motors)
• Experience with industry standard communication protocols (e.g. I2C, SPI, UART)
• Experience with Python and Embedded C/C++
• Experience implementing feedback control systems
• Experience with complex embedded systems
As an onsite contributor in our fast-paced Massachusetts facility, you will work alongside mechanical and electrical experts to implement, debug, and document firmware that drives our unique automation products. We offer a “low ego” collaborative culture that thrives on rapid iteration and user-centric design. In exchange for your drive and innovation, we provide a robust benefits package including 100% covered medical premiums, meaningful equity, and unlimited PTO. If you are passionate about building robotic solutions that people will use and love every day, this is your opportunity to leave a lasting mark on the future of hairstyling.
