Senior Data Platform Architect

Snowflake

Job Description

Snowflake focuses on enabling corporations to reach their peak capabilities—and individuals as well. Maintaining a workplace centered on results, creativity, and teamwork, Snowflake represents the ideal environment for constructing major systems, accelerating progress, and advancing both tech and professional paths.

Our Solution Engineering department is looking for a Senior Data Platform Architect (Specialist) to join the Applied Field Engineering group. This individual will offer technical guidance while engaging with both operational and technical leadership to frame the Snowflake Cloud Data Platform as a vital element of their corporate data landscape and broader technical environment. In this capacity, you will partner with the sales division to identify client requirements, plan methods for successful sales navigation, deliver persuasive value-focused presentations, manage corporate Proof of Concepts, and finalize deals. You will utilize your proficiency, established protocols, and architectural models to showcase Snowflake’s strengths in data collection, processing, and lakehouse operations. You are proficient in both commercial and technical settings, engaging with high-level leaders and discussing intricate details with technical groups.

In This Role You Will Get To:

  • Utilize your cross-cloud data design skills to pitch Snowflake’s tech and roadmap to leadership and technical teams at key prospects, clients, and affiliates.

  • Engage directly with potential and current clients to showcase and articulate the benefits of Snowflake’s platform during the sales journey, from initial viewing to pilot phases and deployment.

  • Engage deeply with the shifting market, keeping a thorough grasp of rival and auxiliary technologies to effectively differentiate Snowflake’s position.

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Marketing departments to steadily refine Snowflake’s offerings and outreach strategies.

On Day One, We Will Expect You To Have:

  • A decade or more of experience in architectural design and data engineering within corporate environments.

  • Minimum of 5 years working in a pre-sales capacity, such as a Solutions Engineer or Architect.

  • Exceptional delivery skills for both specialist and executive viewers, whether utilizing whiteboards or formal software demonstrations.

  • Capacity to link a client’s unique commercial challenges to Snowflake’s technical answers.

  • Proficiency in performing thorough audits of a client’s existing architectural setups to integrate them with Snowflake Data Architecture.

  • Extensive background with high-volume Database or Data Warehouse systems, ETL processes, analytics, and cloud environments like Data Lake, Data Mesh, or Data Fabric.

  • Practical coding skills in languages and tools like SQL, Python, Pandas, Spark, PySpark, Hadoop, or Hive.

  • Thorough knowledge of data movement services and utilities for constructing ETL/ELT flows, including Matillion, Fivetran, Qlik, or Informatica.

  • Experience with streaming platforms such as Kafka or Kinesis and real-time scenarios like Change Data Capture (CDC).

  • History of designing functional data lakehouse models and working with formats like Iceberg, Delta, and Parquet.

  • Robust architectural mastery in data engineering to lead discussions with business heads and handle technical inquiries on the fly.

  • A Bachelor’s degree is mandatory; a Master’s in Computer Science, Math, or Engineering is highly valued.

Every member of the Snowflake team must adhere to the firm’s privacy and protection protocols for managing delicate information. Following the data security strategy is a fundamental obligation for all staff to ensure client data remains protected and private.

Snowflake is expanding rapidly, and we are increasing our workforce to support this momentum. We seek individuals who align with our principles, contest conventional ideas, and drive innovation while growing alongside the company.
