Job Summary: Senior Cyber Analyst
Ofgem, Great Britain’s independent energy regulator, is seeking a Senior Cyber Analyst to join the front line of energy resilience. This role is central to the UK’s transition to Net Zero, ensuring that as the energy grid becomes more digital and decentralized, it remains secure from cyber threats. You will contribute to high-stakes initiatives, including the development of a new Load Control licensing system, working alongside national stakeholders to embed security into the future of clean energy.
Requirements and Skills

Security Clearance: SC Clearance is required for this role (must be a UK resident, typically for 5+ years, to be eligible).

Cyber Expertise: A strong background or passionate interest in cybersecurity, digital security, or tech-heavy policy regulation.

Analytical Rigour: Ability to analyze complex data (such as license applications) to identify the cyber maturity of applicants.

Communication: Confident in articulating technical cyber risks to non-technical policy stakeholders.

Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to manage relationships with government partners, industry leaders, and the National Energy System Operator (NESO).

Strategic Thinking: Ability to see the “big picture” of how cyber resilience supports national decarbonization goals.
Role Overview
You will be a key expert within a collaborative team, moving between technical analysis and policy development. Your primary focus will be supporting the Load Control licensing regime, where you will assess the cybersecurity readiness of companies seeking to operate within the UK energy market. This isn’t just about monitoring; it’s about shaping the rules that ensure digital energy technologies are used securely and ethically. You will act as a bridge between internal policy teams and external industry partners, ensuring that cyber resilience is a core pillar of every regulatory decision.
Key Responsibilities

Policy Implementation: Collaborate with government and industry on policies that ensure a cyber-secure transition to Net Zero.

Licence Assessment: Evaluate the cyber maturity of energy companies during the application process and provide formal recommendations.

Guidance Development: Work with partners to write the “rulebook” and guidance for new regulatory regimes.

Resilience Insights: Provide specialist cyber security and resilience advice to various cross-departmental regulatory projects.

Relationship Management: Manage and influence internal and external stakeholders to drive the Ofgem vision.
