Job Description
Barnett Waddingham is seeking a strategically minded Senior Content Writer for a 12-month fixed-term contract based in our Birmingham (Longbridge) office. Reporting to the Head of Marketing Campaigns, you will be the creative engine behind our brand voice, responsible for crafting high-impact content that drives our ambitious growth objectives.
This is a “hybrid” role that sits at the intersection of creative storytelling and technical marketing. You will work across a broad spectrum of media—from high-level thought leadership and research reports to digital advertising and video storyboarding—ensuring every piece of communication is persona-led, SEO-optimized, and strictly aligned with our professional services brand.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Marketing Communications

Multi-Channel Creation: Produce engaging website copy, social media content, and tailored HTML emails that resonate with specific client personas.

Multimedia Development: Scripting and storyboarding for corporate videos and animations, translating complex financial concepts into accessible narratives.

Conversion Optimization: Reviewing the content-led User Experience (UX) to drive goal completions and implementing SEO best practices to boost search visibility.

Paid Media & Events: Creating copy for retargeting campaigns and print advertising, alongside full editorial support for a busy portfolio of exhibitions and live events.
2. Operational Messaging & Brand Governance

Message Articulation: Developing firmwide key messaging to ensure a “single voice” across all business areas.

Style Ownership: Maintaining and executing communication house styles and editorial guidelines.

Corporate Promotion: Promoting high-level firmwide activities, including award wins, policy documents, and corporate reports.
3. Growth & Collaboration

Database Expansion: Maximizing opt-in opportunities through creative data capture methods.

PR Liaison: Working with the PR team to identify content-driven stories suitable for media release.
Your Toolkit for Success

Experience: Proven track record in a marketing communications role, ideally within professional services (Pensions, Insurance, or Investment experience is a significant advantage).

Communication Skills: Exceptional writing ability with a keen eye for tone of voice, editorial consistency, and technical accuracy.

Technical Proficiency: Comfortable with Website CMS, social media management tools, and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of HTML for email content is essential.

Education: A degree in Marketing, Communications, or English is preferred; CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) qualifications are highly valued.

Organization: The ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced campaign environment with impeccable attention to detail.
