Job Description

Position: Senior Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner | West NHS Trust

Overview:

We are looking for a Senior Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to join West London NHS Trust, a diverse provider delivering mental, physical and community health services across London.

Key Achievements of the Service:

• In 2021, the service was nationally recognised and received a ‘highly commended’ accolade from the National Pharmacy Awards.

• In 2022, it reached the finals at the National Learning Disability and Autism Awards and later received the Trust’s ‘Outstanding Clinical Team of the year’.

• In 2025, recognised for ‘Outstanding Patient Experience’ from Speech & Language Therapists and nationally, from the ‘Beyond Words’ charity for the ‘Most Inspirational Outcome’.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct clinical oversight, support and steer to other PBS practitioners and workers in the service.

• Carry out joint assessments, share professional knowledge and work in partnership with team administrators.

• Undertake robust behaviour assessments, formulate strategies and conduct risk assessments and strategies.

• Represent the needs and rights of people with learning disabilities, tackle inequalities and improve access to identified services in the statutory and third sectors.

• Lead, mentor PBS colleagues and carers in delivering bespoke and personalised responses to behaviours of concern and challenging.

• Work in partnership with generic health services, service users and carers to support the implementation of their formulated PBS strategies.

Qualifications:

• Very experienced PBS Practitioner with substantive senior experience.

• Excellent communication skills between disciplines and across organisations.

• Sound understanding of risk assessment and strategies.

• Experience in behavioural assessment and formulation of personalised strategies.
