Senior Associate – Banking & Finance (REF)

Job Description

Shape sophisticated debt financings for leading sponsors, funds and corporates as a Senior Associate in Taylor Wessing’s Banking & Finance group. You’ll take the lead on complex transactions, nurture key client relationships and help grow a dynamic practice beyond its core real estate finance offering.

Role Overview

As a 5+ PQE Senior Associate in London, you will work closely with partners and colleagues across the Banking & Finance team, focusing on non‑real estate transactional work. You’ll be trusted to structure and run deals, draft and negotiate core finance documentation, supervise juniors and play an active role in business development.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on a broad range of debt finance transactions, including leveraged/acquisition finance (often for super senior lenders), general corporate lending, receivables/asset‑based lending and loan trading/balance sheet deals
• Structure transactions and manage their delivery from term sheet to closing, coordinating internal and external stakeholders
• Draft and negotiate complex facility, intercreditor and related documents, adapting for bespoke capital structures
• Oversee junior associates on security and ancillary documentation, ensuring consistency and quality
• Maintain day‑to‑day client contact, managing expectations and delivering commercially focused advice
• Support and originate business development initiatives, presenting ideas and building long‑term relationships
• Train, supervise and mentor junior team members, contributing to knowledge sharing and practice efficiency projects

Skills and Experience

• At least 5 years’ post‑qualification experience from a top‑tier Banking & Finance practice
• Broad experience across transactional debt finance (beyond pure real estate finance)
• Excellent drafting, analytical and technical skills, with the ability to handle complex structures
• Strong client-handling skills and a track record of taking responsibility for matters and workstreams
• Commercial mindset, with commitment to business development and profile building
• Highly organised, with strong time‑management and team‑working skills
• Strong academics and clear commitment to continued professional development
