Angel Meadow School
job description
Angel Meadow School is a brand-new independent special school in Manchester dedicated to pupils aged 11–16 with EHCPs. We serve a community of learners with diverse needs, including communication difficulties, learning delays, and SEMH needs. As a small, nurturing, and ambitious setting, we maintain class sizes of no more than five pupils to ensure every child receives the personalized attention they deserve. We are looking for a creative and adaptable Secondary SEND Teacher to help us build a curriculum that transforms confidence into future success.
Key Responsibilities
-
Multi-Subject Delivery: Provide high-quality teaching across KS3 and KS4, specifically covering English (literacy), ICT, and a variety of foundation or vocational subjects.
-
Personalised Learning: Plan and deliver lessons that are directly tailored to individual EHCP targets, ensuring content is accessible yet challenging.
-
Accreditation: Prepare students for diverse pathways, including GCSEs, Functional Skills, and unit-based awards.
-
Classroom Management: Maintain a calm, structured, and supportive environment that facilitates both learning and emotional regulation.
-
Collaboration: Lead a team of Teaching Assistants and work closely with families and external professionals to ensure holistic student progress.
-
Growth & Development: Contribute to curriculum design as our school expands and participate in ongoing CPD focused on trauma-informed practice.
What We Are Looking For
-
Adaptability: A teacher who can pivot their style to meet a wide range of SEND needs within a single small group.
-
Creative Pedagogy: Someone who can make core subjects like English and ICT engaging for students who may have previously struggled in mainstream settings.
-
Commitment: A professional dedicated to the safeguarding and welfare of vulnerable young people.
-
Versatility: We welcome applications for both full-time and part-time (0.6–0.9 FTE) roles.
Why Join Angel Meadow School?
-
Shape the Future: As a brand-new school, you have a direct hand in shaping the culture and curriculum from the ground up.
-
Ratios for Success: Enjoy very small class sizes (max 5) and high staff-to-pupil ratios that allow for deep, meaningful relationships.
-
Staff Wellbeing: Benefit from a focus on “meaningful progress” over heavy admin, with reduced marking requirements and a supportive, close-knit team.
-
Leadership Opportunities: As the school grows, there are clear pathways for those seeking future responsibility and leadership roles.
-
Prime Location: Based in central Manchester with strong local community links.
