Job description

Join Citizens School as a School Nurse and play a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of our learners and staff. You will lead the school’s healthcare provision, ensure compliance with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) standards, and foster a safe and supportive environment for our community.

Key Responsibilities

1. Health Services:

Provide basic medical care for illness or injury to students and staff.

Administer first aid and emergency response, including CPR.

Monitor and support students with chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies).

2. Health Assessments:

Conduct routine screenings (e.g., vision, hearing) as required.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date student medical records, including immunization status and emergency contacts.

3. Medication Management:

Administer prescribed medications in accordance with doctors’ instructions.

Safely store and document all medication activity in line with DHA guidelines.

4. Health Education:

Promote awareness of health topics through workshops, campaigns, and parent communication.

Educate students and staff on hygiene, nutrition, mental wellness, and disease prevention.

5. Disease Prevention and Control:

Identify and respond to outbreaks of communicable diseases.

Report illnesses to DHA, parents, and school leadership as needed.

Ensure hygiene and infection control practices are enforced school-wide.

6. Emergency Preparedness:

Support the school’s emergency response planning and conduct medical drills.

Ensure readiness for medical emergencies at all times.

7. Collaboration with Staff:

Liaise with administration, teachers, and the School Doctor on student health.

Communicate effectively with parents regarding medical concerns.

Refer complex cases to external healthcare providers.

8. Compliance and Reporting:

Maintain DHA compliance in all clinic operations, sanitation, and documentation.

Provide health trend reports and proactive recommendations to school leadership.

9. Health Counseling:

Provide first-line counseling for students facing physical or emotional health challenges.

Refer students with serious mental health concerns to appropriate professionals.

10. Support School Events:

Offer medical support during school trips, sports days, and extracurricular events.

Ensure first aid kits and medical supplies are available, accessible, and stocked.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent from a recognized institution.

DHA license or eligibility is mandatory.

Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, ideally in a school or pediatric setting.

Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid certifications.

Strong communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.

Familiarity with child safeguarding procedures and mental health support.

Personal Qualities:

Empathetic, calm, and professional under pressure.

Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and documentation skills.

Proactive and collaborative in a school community setting.
