Pay Rate: £12.85 – £13.05 per hour

Hours: 6 to 8 hours per week (approx. 40 mins morning / 40 mins afternoon)

Contract: Permanent, Term-Time only (38 weeks per year)

Schedule: Monday to Friday, both morning and afternoon shifts.
Key Responsibilities
-
Traffic Control: Using the official “Stop” sign (lollipop) to give clear signals to drivers and halt traffic.
-
Pedestrian Safety: Controlling children and adults waiting at the curb and instructing them when it is safe to cross.
-
Risk Assessment: Monitoring vehicle speed and road conditions, especially near junctions and in adverse weather, to identify safe gaps in traffic.

Reporting: Documenting incidents or problems and reporting them to the Team Leader or Head Teacher.
Candidate Requirements
Skills & Attributes

Communication: Friendly attitude with good verbal communication skills to interact with children and parents.

Road Safety Knowledge: Understanding of vehicle stopping distances and how weather affects road safety.

Physical Fitness: Ability to stand and walk for set periods and maintain high levels of alertness.

Reliability: Must be punctual and committed to working in all weather conditions (rain, snow, wind).

Assertiveness: Ability to give clear, authoritative instructions to motorists.
Compliance

DBS: Must complete an Enhanced DBS check as part of pre-employment checks.

Proximity: Ideally, candidates should live within walking distance of the school.

Students: Must confirm they can commit to both shifts (morning and afternoon) five days a week.
