A specialized educational establishment in Swanley is seeking a Temporary School Cook to lead their kitchen operations for a 12-month contract. Key Responsibilities

  • Meal Production: Prepare and cook approximately 150 covers daily, focusing on popular, nutritious dishes such as roasts, lasagnas, and burgers.

  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain rigorous standards regarding allergens, special dietary requirements, temperature checks, and accurate date labeling.

  • Special Events: Provide flexible catering support for annual school highlights, including Barbecues and the Christmas Fayre.

  • Kitchen Management: Ensure the kitchen remains a safe, hygienic environment compliant with food safety regulations.


Requirements

  • Experience: Essential previous experience in a similar school or care environment.

  • Compliance: An Enhanced DBS (Adults & Children) is mandatory for this role.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of food safety protocols and the management of complex dietary needs.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to the school calendar and support community events.


About the Role

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract starting 6th January 2026. The role offers a desirable work-life balance, operating on a “Term Time Only” basis with a choice of early shifts (06:00–14:00 or 07:00–15:00), ensuring you are home well before the evening.

Working in an SEN setting requires a heightened focus on food consistency and safety. You will be responsible for ensuring that every meal served accounts for the specific sensitivities and health requirements of the students. From the precision of the daily lunch service to the excitement of a summer BBQ, you will be the heart of the school’s nutritional support system.
