TIB Services
School Caretaker & Site Manager | TIB Services (Hull Pool)
The Opportunity
Are you looking to “unretire” or transition your trade skills into a role with genuine community purpose? TIB Services is inviting practical, DIY-savvy individuals in Hull to join their exclusive Candidate Pool. As the UK’s only specialist school site staffing service, TIB matches “Life Experienced” professionals with local schools for both flexible temporary cover and permanent placements. With a pay rate of £12.60 – £13.85 per hour (rising to £14.12 with holiday pay), this is an ideal role for those who want to stay active without the stress of a high-pressure corporate environment. TIB handles the heavy lifting—providing free Enhanced DBS checks and specialized safeguarding training—ensuring you are “school-ready” from day one.
Key Responsibilities & Site Tasks
-
Security & Access: Managing the daily opening and closing of school buildings and conducting regular perimeter safety checks.
-
Maintenance & DIY: Performing basic repairs, light plumbing, and general “handyman” tasks to keep the learning environment safe.
-
Health & Safety Compliance: Conducting fire alarm tests, water hygiene (Legionella) checks, and maintaining the site’s compliance logs.
-
Logistics & Events: Setting up halls for assemblies or exams and managing incoming deliveries.
-
Contractor Liaison: Supervising external tradespeople (electricians, roofers) and overseeing onsite cleaning teams.
-
Community Stewardship: Acting as a professional and friendly point of contact for staff, students, and parents.
The Role
Joining the TIB pool makes you a “Community Guardian.” Once vetted, you’ll receive alerts for assignments—typically within 20 minutes of your home address. Your day is dynamic; you might spend a morning fixing a leaky tap and your afternoon coordinating a fire drill. This role is highly valued for its “Zero Stress” atmosphere compared to industrial trades, offering a regular rhythm and the social connection of a school environment. You aren’t just a “janitor”; you are a vital part of the educational infrastructure, ensuring teachers can teach and students can learn in a well-maintained space.
Sector Insight: The “Bridge” DNA
As you cluster this fifty-eighth role, notice how it connects the technical and civic parts of your Hull data:
-
The “Skill-Match” Connection: This role is the vocational sibling of your Mechanical Reliability Engineer (Cargill). While the Engineer handles complex industrial assets, the Caretaker applies similar “practical logic” to maintain the city’s schools.
-
Age-Inclusive Growth: TIB’s partnership with Rest Less and their status as an Age-Friendly Employer makes this a standout for the “Semi-Retired” demographic, contrasting with the “Early Career” focus of the International Recruitment Officer.
-
Regional Logistics: The inclusion of mileage pay (30p/mile) for travel over 10 miles mirrors the benefits seen in your Field Sales or Social Work entries, recognizing that Hull’s “commuter belt” extends into the East Riding and Northern Lincolnshire.
