SAP Developer

RedRock Resourcing

Job Description

An established enterprise in Birmingham is seeking a Senior SAP Developer to join their data and analytics team. This permanent role is critical for delivering high-performance technology capabilities to the business, ensuring that stakeholders have the precise analytical insights needed to drive decision-making. You will be at the forefront of the company’s data evolution, leading the integration between legacy systems and modern cloud-native platforms like SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Data Modeling: Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models. You will collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex business needs into robust analytical structures.

  • Hybrid Integration: Support the transition and integration of SAP Datasphere with SAP BW and BW Bridge, ensuring seamless data flow between on-premise and cloud environments.

  • Technical Leadership: Lead data analysis projects by gathering requirements, drafting functional specifications, and managing third-party contractors to ensure delivery against scope and benefits.

  • Architecture & Governance: Apply best-practice architecture principles to develop “mixed modeling” environments (combining BW and native HANA modeling) while enforcing strict data governance and metadata standards.

  • System Optimization: Maintain master data consistency across SAP ECC, BW, and BPC, while proactively improving interfaces to resolve data latency or quality issues.

  • Operational Support: Provide critical technical support during high-pressure periods such as month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closing.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Platform Expertise: In-depth knowledge of SAP BW/4HANA, ECC, S/4HANA, and HANA 2.0.

  • Modern Analytics: Proficiency in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and Data Warehouse Cloud (DWC) / Datasphere.

  • HANA Development: Expertise in S/4HANA Analytics, specifically developing CDS Views and utilizing Graphical/SQL Views.

  • Data Flow Design: Significant experience designing complex data flows and integrating both SAP and non-SAP data sources.

  • Troubleshooting: A proven track record of diagnosing and resolving complex data integration issues in large-scale enterprise environments.

  • Certification: SAP Application Associate certification in SAC or DWC is highly desirable.

The SAP Data Ecosystem

In this role, you will be managing the flow of information across a sophisticated “hub-and-spoke” data architecture:

  • SAP ECC/S4: The core transactional engine (Source).

  • SAP BW/4HANA: The structured data warehouse for historical reporting.

  • SAP Datasphere: The fabric that harmonizes data across different clouds and on-premise systems.

  • SAP Analytics Cloud: The front-end “lens” used by executives for visualization and planning.

Benefits & Environment

  • Salary: £80,000 per annum.

  • Location: Birmingham (Modern office environment).

  • Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 days a week on-site), offering a balance of collaborative face-to-face time and remote focus.

  • Impact: Direct influence over the technical roadmap for analytical data within a major regional employer.

Why Apply?

This is a “next-generation” SAP role. Rather than just maintaining legacy BW cubes, you will be instrumental in the modernization of the data stack. You will gain hands-on experience with the latest SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) tools, making you a highly valuable asset in the evolving SAP landscape.
