Research Nurse (Band 6) – Primary Care Trials
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a motivated Band 6 Research Nurse to join a forward-thinking GP surgery in Knutsford. This role is ideal for a nurse who is passionate about advancing medical science while maintaining a strong foundation in patient-facing clinical care. You will be a key link between innovative clinical trials and the primary care setting, ensuring that research is conducted safely, ethically, and in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
Core Requirements and Skills

Professional Registration: Must be an NMC Registered Nurse.

Clinical Expertise: Strong foundation in nursing care, with the ability to perform clinical tasks (e.g., venepuncture, ECGs, vital signs) required by study protocols.

Research Knowledge: Familiarity with the clinical trial process, including patient recruitment, informed consent, and data collection.

Ethics and Compliance: A thorough understanding of Research Governance and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.

Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills to explain complex research concepts to patients and liaise with the multi-disciplinary team.

Organization: Ability to manage multiple trial portfolios simultaneously while ensuring meticulous record-keeping and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities

Patient Recruitment: Identify, screen, and recruit suitable patients for primary care trials, ensuring they are fully informed and provide valid consent.

Study Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for clinical studies, managing the logistics of patient visits and follow-ups within the surgery.

Clinical Care: Deliver high-quality nursing interventions as dictated by trial protocols, monitoring for any adverse reactions or safety concerns.

Data Management: Accurately record patient data into Case Report Forms (CRFs) and maintain the Trial Master File (TMF).

Collaboration: Work closely with GPs, the Clinical Research Network (CRN), and pharmaceutical sponsors to ensure study targets are met.

Compliance: Ensure all research activities adhere to the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research.
