Job Overview
As a part-time Relief Chef, you will step into a Coventry retirement village kitchen to prepare traditional home-cooked dishes, support menu delivery, maintain rigorous food safety and hygiene, and ensure residents receive meals that are tasty, well-presented and tailored to older adults’ needs on each shift.
Requirements
• Experience as a chef or cook, ideally in care, retirement or similar settings
• Confidence preparing fresh, homemade traditional meals at volume
• Strong understanding of food safety and high kitchen hygiene standards
• Ability to work as a flexible relief chef, covering part-time shifts as needed
• Genuine care for older adults and sensitivity to dietary needs
Qualifications
• Relevant catering or chef qualification (for example NVQ or equivalent) preferred
• Knowledge of allergen management and safe food handling
• Strong organisational skills to manage prep and service efficiently
• Clear communication with kitchen, care and management teams
