About the Role

As a Commercial Account Manager, you will be at the forefront of securing profitable and sustainable business to meet our strategic ambitions. Working within a dynamic team, you will manage project-level pipelines, deliver corporate revenue targets, and ensure that every proposal we submit is of the highest quality and protects the interests of FCDO Services. You won’t just be managing accounts; you will be a strategic partner to our customers, developing a deep understanding of their budget priorities and operational drivers to champion products and services that deliver real value.


Key Responsibilities

  • New Business Development: Secure profitable revenue pipelines by identifying opportunities and working closely with leadership on strategic bids.

  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, high-satisfaction relationships with FCDO and higher-tier customers, acting as an escalation point for complex issues.

  • Pipeline Management: Deliver agreed Corporate Plan targets, manage project pipelines, and ensure accurate forecasting and financial reporting.

  • Proposal Excellence: Lead the creation of compelling, high-quality commercial proposals that address customer requirements while protecting organizational interests.

  • Strategy & Insight: Provide commercial insights to shape future business improvements and champion value-based products for the FCDO.

  • Operational Influence: Use excellent communication skills to influence operational relationships and ensure a seamless transition from opportunity to delivery.


Requirements & Skills (Person Specification)

  • Relevant and recent account management experience covering business delivery, negotiation, forecasting, reporting, business planning, and relationship management.

  • Demonstrable track record of delivering high quality, efficient and effective sales output.

  • Securing business for standard and custom products and services, dealing effectively with resistance and concerns and successfully resolving problems with customers.

  • Managing customer through opportunity to commercial completion and delivery, successfully setting and managing customer expectations for complex and problematic products & service delivery.

  • Formulating accurate, concise, tailored and compelling sales rationales and reports.

  • Communicating complex information simply, succinctly and in a compelling way to engage and influence.

  • Team player, equally able to support as lead and influence.

  • Engaging, presenting to and influencing diverse audiences, internal and external stakeholders across all levels from junior office to C-suite.

  • Commercial acumen and financial management reporting knowledge.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Highly organised, detail oriented, deadline and results driven.

  • Adaptable and flexible, able to respond adeptly to changing or conflicting priorities.
