Elior
Relief Chef Manager | Caterplus | Bromley & Surrounding Areas
Intro
Are you the type of chef who can walk into any kitchen, assess the situation, and immediately drive results? Caterplus is looking for a versatile and confident Relief Chef Manager to support our over-55 catering communities across the Bromley region. This isn’t a typical “fixed-site” role; it’s a high-visibility position where you act as the regional expert, troubleshooter, and leader. If you thrive on variety, want to avoid late evenings, and are looking for a fast track to senior leadership, this role offers the autonomy and impact you’ve been seeking.
What you’ll be doing
-
Operational Support: Cover planned and unplanned absences across multiple locations, ensuring seamless service continuity.
-
Leadership & Standards: Bring consistency and high culinary standards to every team you support, acting as a role model for kitchen efficiency.
-
TMF Specialist: Act as the regional expert for Textured Modified Foods (TMF), delivering specialized training and ensuring best practices are met for residents with dysphagia.
-
Compliance & Safety: Maintain rigorous standards in Health & Safety, food safety, and overall kitchen compliance.
-
Relationship Management: Build strong, trust-based connections with site managers and operations teams throughout the region.
What you can bring
-
Experience: Proven background as a Senior Chef with strong kitchen management and people leadership skills.
-
Temperament: A calm, organized, and confident approach when working under pressure or in unfamiliar environments.
-
Customer Focus: A genuine passion for delivering high-quality service to the over-55 community.
-
Proactive Mindset: A positive, solutions-focused attitude with the ability to “make it work” regardless of the challenge.
-
TMF Knowledge: Experience with Textured Modified Foods is helpful, though comprehensive training will be provided.
About the Role
As a Relief Chef Manager, no two weeks will look the same. You are the “go-to” person for the region, moving between sites to strengthen teams and implement Caterplus standards. This role is particularly critical within our over-55 communities, where nutritional precision—specifically regarding Texture Modified Foods—is a life-saving skill. You will be trained to ensure that meals are not only safe for those with swallowing difficulties but also appetizing and dignified.
This position offers a unique work-life balance with no late evenings and a 37.5-hour week. Because the role covers multiple sites in the Bromley area, it includes a car allowance and mileage reimbursement. This is an ideal stepping stone for a chef who wants to be noticed by senior leaders and move quickly into regional operations or specialized training roles.
Hours & Region
-
Schedule: 5 out of 7 days (37.5 hours per week).
-
No late evenings.
-
Location: Sites across Bromley and surrounding areas.
-
Travel: Car allowance provided + Mileage (33p petrol / 26p electric).
