Job description

Lloyds Banking Group is looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Infrastructure Engineer to join our Google Lab team. With a salary range of £47,790 – £53,100, this role is a prime opportunity to help build the GCP foundations that power our digital journeys and emerging Generative AI workloads. You’ll be part of a forward-thinking team that views cloud technology as a way to make finance “green” and secure. Based out of hubs like Manchester, Leeds, or Halifax, you will benefit from a hybrid working model while learning how to deliver enterprise-scale solutions in one of the UK’s most significant financial institutions.

Essential skills & experience

  • 1-3 years’ experience in DevOps, SRE or cloud engineering.

  • Basic understanding of cloud concepts and core GCP services.

  • Foundational scripting in Python, Bash, Java or Go.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Harness or GitHub Actions.

  • Exposure to IaC tools, preferably Terraform.

  • Enthusiasm, initiative and a desire to grow technically.

Desirable skills

  • Awareness of Kubernetes/containerisation

  • Understanding of observability tooling (Prometheus, Dynatrace, etc.).

  • Awareness of agile ways of working.

This position is designed for someone early in their cloud journey who is ready to take ownership of their professional growth. You’ll spend your time writing Terraform code, contributing to CI/CD pipelines, and supporting incident responses to ensure our systems remain resilient. Beyond the technical exposure, Lloyds offers a standout benefits package including a 15% pension contribution and 30 days of holiday. If you are curious about how infrastructure supports modern AI and want to work in an environment that celebrates diversity and innovation, this is the perfect place to build your DevOps foundations.
