Job Overview
As a Prison Officer at HMP Thameside, you will supervise prisoners, oversee activities, and support rehabilitation programs while maintaining safety and security. You will manage operational tasks, respond to incidents, and contribute to a calm, structured environment that encourages positive choices.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise prisoners across all wing activities and programs

• Support work, education, and rehabilitation initiatives

• Conduct security procedures, including searches, headcounts, and monitoring

• Manage prisoners at risk of self-harm and ensure wellbeing

• Maintain accurate records and complete administrative tasks

• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure safe and efficient operations

Requirements & Qualifications

• No prior experience required; full training provided through a 10-week Initial Training Course

• Strong communication, teamwork, resilience, and patience

• Reasonably fit with ability to meet physical assessment requirements

• Committed to making a positive impact in prisoners’ lives

• Interest in criminology, psychology, or rehabilitation is advantageous

• Starting salary £34,687 rising to £39,837 with career progression

• Opportunity to earn up to £44,000 including overtime
