Trescal
Job Description
Trescal, a global leader in calibration services, is seeking a People Partner to join their UK team based in Bredbury (Stockport). This role is a blend of strategic partnership and hands-on operational delivery, designed for an HR professional who thrives in a multi-site environment. You will be a key player in Trescal’s growth strategy, particularly supporting Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and the subsequent integration of new teams. From managing complex employee relations to driving talent development and overseeing the annual salary review, you will ensure the “people” strategy directly fuels the company’s commercial success.
Key Responsibilities
-
M&A and Integration: Lead on HR activities for business acquisitions, focusing on due diligence, change management, and aligning diverse cultures into the Trescal way.
-
Organisational Change: Support the business through structural shifts, ensuring smooth transitions and maintaining high employee morale.
-
Talent & Development: Identify high-potential employees and create development pathways to ensure a robust internal talent pipeline.
-
Employee Relations (ER): Act as the expert advisor for managers on complex ER cases, ensuring compliance with UK employment law and GDPR.
-
Total Reward: Coordinate the annual salary review process and manage reward initiatives to attract and retain technical talent.
-
Engagement: Design and deliver engagement strategies, managing both the creative planning and the associated costs.
What You Will Bring
Essential Requirements:
-
Multi-site Experience: Proven track record as an HRBP managing multiple locations across the UK (regular travel is required).
-
Legal & Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of current UK employment law and GDPR.
-
M&A Exposure: Experience in business integrations or mergers is highly valued.
-
Technical Proficiency: Expert user of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with HRIS platforms.
-
Education: CIPD qualified (or actively working towards it; Trescal provides study support).
Desirable Background:
-
Experience within a Jig/Tool recertification or technical engineering environment.
Why Trescal?
-
Career Growth: As a global organization, Trescal offers internal mobility and the chance to work on high-impact international projects.
-
Professional Development: Strong commitment to training, including CIPD study support.
-
Variety: No two days are the same, moving between site-based ER issues and high-level strategic planning.
-
Impact: You aren’t just an administrator; you are a commercial partner with a seat at the table during business-critical changes.
The HR Landscape in 2026: The “Integration” Challenge
In 2026, the role of a People Partner has shifted heavily toward Cultural Integration following the rapid consolidation seen in the engineering and calibration sectors.
-
AI in HRIS: People Partners are now leveraging AI-driven analytics within their HRIS to predict turnover trends and identify “at-risk” talent during business changes.
-
Hybrid Compliance: Managing a workforce that includes both on-site technical calibration engineers and hybrid office staff requires a nuanced approach to reward and engagement.
-
The “Skills Gap”: With technical engineering talent in high demand, the 2026 People Partner must focus on “Skills-Based Hiring” and internal upskilling rather than just traditional recruitment.
