Financials & Hours

  • Pay: £12.85 per hour

  • Hours: Minimum 15 hours per week

  • Schedule: Term-time only (aligned with school dates)


Key Responsibilities

  • Safe Transportation: Transporting pupils between home (or designated pick-up points) and school, ensuring they arrive on time.

  • Welfare & Safety: Monitoring the welfare of children during the journey and reporting any accidents, incidents, or behavioral concerns.

  • Vehicle Operation: Ensuring the safe operation of the vehicle, considering road conditions and specialized requirements like wheelchair transportation.

  • Professionalism: Wearing an ID badge at all times, providing parents/guardians with a contact number, and treating pupil information with confidentiality.

  • Special Needs Support: Some pupils have additional needs; you may be required to undertake training to support specific contracts.


Candidate Requirements

Compliance & Licencing

  • Taxi Driver’s Badge: Successful applicants must obtain a taxi driver’s badge (this involves a driving assessment and a DBS check).

    • Note: The company pays for the badge.

  • DBS & Training: Must pass an Enhanced DBS check and complete Safeguarding training.

  • Identification: Must be willing to wear an ID badge to confirm background check compliance.

Skills & Attributes

  • Communication: Excellent skills to interact professionally with clients (parents), pupils, and team members.

  • Reliability: Punctual and committed to the morning/afternoon school runs.

  • Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of vehicle operation and basic maintenance.

  • Compassion: Friendly and professional, with a focus on child welfare.


Important Notes

  • Medical Limitations: Drivers and assistants are not permitted to administer routine medication or carry out medical procedures.

  • Independent Working: While you may have a Passenger Assistant on some routes, you are responsible for managing pupil behavior and road safety.
