Bring big flavours and consistent quality to a busy forces site as a Part-Time Chef at Holsworthy Barracks. You’ll prepare high‑volume, buffet‑style dishes that still feel handcrafted, keeping standards, safety and presentation high for every service.

Role Overview

Working part-time within Compass Group’s catering team, you’ll help plan, prep and serve buffet and bulk meals for service personnel and staff. You’ll work to set menus and nutrition standards, support stock control and keep kitchen areas safe, efficient and inspection‑ready throughout each shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook and present high‑volume buffet and plated dishes to agreed recipes and quality standards
  • Work across hot, cold and dessert sections, adjusting production for changing headcounts
  • Maintain strict food safety, HACCP and hygiene standards, including temperature checks and cleaning schedules
  • Assist with ordering, stock rotation and waste minimisation
  • Liaise with front‑of‑house teams to keep service smooth and replenished
  • Contribute ideas to improve menus, efficiency and presentation where appropriate

Skills and Experience

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent chef qualification)
  • Proven experience in large‑scale, high‑volume kitchens (contract catering, hotels, banqueting or similar)
  • Strong understanding of bulk cooking, buffet service and food safety regulations
  • Keen eye for presentation, consistency and portion control
  • Ability to work calmly in a fast‑moving environment and as part of a brigade
  • Flexibility to work part‑time shifts in line with site requirements
