Job Description

Bring music to life for secondary students as a Music Teacher in a lively Liverpool school. Through inspiring lessons, creative performance opportunities and thoughtful feedback, you’ll help young people grow in musical skill, confidence and cultural understanding across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

Role Overview

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Secondary Music Teacher for a long‑term temporary placement in a Liverpool L6 secondary school from January 2026. You’ll work full-time school hours, planning and delivering engaging lessons, leading practical work and supporting the wider musical life of the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, resource and deliver high‑quality Music lessons in line with the KS3 and KS4 curriculum
  • Use a mix of practical, listening and theoretical activities to engage a wide range of learners
  • Differentiate work to support diverse abilities, including SEND and EAL pupils
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom climate that encourages participation and creativity
  • Assess learning regularly, provide clear feedback and contribute to progress tracking and reporting
  • Maintain good behaviour through positive routines and consistent expectations
  • Contribute to departmental planning, concerts, performances and enrichment where required
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and follow school policies, including safeguarding procedures

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Recent experience teaching Music in a UK secondary school
  • Strong knowledge of the secondary Music curriculum and exam specifications
  • Up‑to‑date safeguarding training (or willingness to complete provided training)
  • Enhanced child barred‑list DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Ability to provide references covering at least 24 months, ideally including two roles involving work with children
  • Reliable, reflective and enthusiastic about inspiring young people through music
