MSK-Physiotherapy Team Lead (Band 7)
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking two visionary and clinically expert Physiotherapists to join the East Quadrant MSK team as Team Leads. In this pivotal role, you will balance advanced clinical practice with delegated management responsibilities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality musculoskeletal care to a diverse population of over 1.15 million. You will be a key driver of service development, managing a team of clinicians to meet national 18-week Referral to Treatment (RTT) targets while fostering a culture of evidence-based excellence.
Core Requirements and Skills

Professional Standards: Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy and current HCPC registration.

Experience: Minimum of 6 years postgraduate experience, including at least 4 years at Band 6 level within the NHS.

Clinical Expertise: Post-graduate certificate in a relevant MSK area or equivalent experience; ability to manage complex medical needs across all age groups.

Leadership: Completed or working towards a management/leadership qualification; proven ability to handle recruitment, KSF reviews, and first-line disciplinary proceedings.

Operational Management: Experience in referral management, triage, and complex clinic planning to meet AHP waiting time directives.

Academic Skills: Critical appraisal, research/audit experience, and a robust CPD portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Staff Management: Day-to-day management of a group of MSK Physiotherapists, including attendance management and professional development.

Advanced Clinical Care: Conduct full assessments and diagnoses for patients with complex acute and long-term MSK conditions, establishing advanced management plans.

Service Oversight: Monitoring team caseloads and taking corrective action to ensure efficiency and quality; managing patient complaints in line with Board policy.

Lead Specialist Clinics: Designing and leading specialized clinics and ensuring stock levels/procurement remain within authorized budgets.

Triage & Allocation: Managing the incoming referral stream, allocating cases to appropriate staff, and providing feedback to referrers regarding inappropriate submissions.

Service Development: Leading change management initiatives and service audits to improve the patient journey and health outcomes.

Salary: Agenda for Change Band 7 (Pro Rata for part-time).

Flexible Patterns: Two posts available: One Full-time (37hrs) and one Part-time (21.6hrs), both Monday–Friday.

Schedule Change: On 1 April 2026, the full-time week reduces to 36 hours with no reduction in pay (pro-rata for part-time).
