Job description

We are seeking a skilled Mobile HGV Mechanic to join our team as a subcontractor, bringing high-level technical expertise directly to our clients in the field. This is an ideal role for a technician who enjoys the variety of mobile work and takes pride in delivering professional on-site service. You will be the face of our maintenance operations, responsible for keeping a diverse fleet moving. We provide the infrastructure—including a company van, fuel card, and advanced diagnostic equipment—while you provide the mechanical grit and problem-solving skills to handle everything from routine safety checks to complex fault finding.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out vehicle inspections and safety checks

• Fault finding and diagnostics on HGVs

• General repairs and preventative maintenance

• Routine vehicle servicing

• Occasional work on plant machinery

• Light vehicle fleet maintenance when required

• Providing professional, reliable service directly to customers on-site

Requirements

• Proven experience as an HGV mechanic/technician

• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability

• Comfortable working independently in a mobile role

• Own tools required

• Good communication skills and professional approach with customers

• Full UK driving licence

Work Environment and Logistics

As a subcontractor in this role, you will benefit from a consistent workflow and the independence of managing your own day-to-day repairs across various locations. We understand that effective field work requires the right setup, which is why we ensure you are equipped with a dedicated van and fuel card to minimize your overhead. While you bring your own hand tools, we provide the specific diagnostic kits necessary for high-level HGV maintenance. The day rate for this position is negotiable, allowing us to align compensation with your specific level of experience and mechanical proficiency.
