Market Surveillance Unit (MSU) Engineer – DVSA
Do you have a sharp eye for technical detail and an inquisitive mind? The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is looking for a Market Surveillance Unit (MSU) Engineer to join our team of automotive experts. -
Project Management: Commission and manage external technical assessments, ensuring all data is interpreted to professional engineering standards.
-
Stakeholder Engagement: Negotiate with manufacturers and aftermarket producers to reach compliance outcomes.
-
Expert Reporting: Prepare technical reports, Ministerial briefings, and evidence for legal proceedings, acting as an expert witness when necessary.
Requirements & Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
-
Technical Certification: Level 3 Vocational qualification in Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, OR IMI ATA registration (Diagnostic Technician level), OR IRTEC registration (Advanced Technician level).
-
Licensing: A full UK Category B driving licence is required.
Required Experience:
-
Regulatory Awareness: Knowledge of EU and UK product safety/approval regulations and Recall Codes of Practice.
-
Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities with an awareness of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies (e.g., 8D).
-
Project Management: Demonstrable ability to manage technical projects and meet deadlines.
-
Communication: Ability to produce high-quality written briefings and provide authoritative verbal advice.
Benefits & Flexibility
-
Competitive Pension: An exceptional employer contribution of 28.97% of your salary.
-
Generous Leave: 25 days annual leave (rising to 30 with service), plus 8 bank holidays and a privilege day for the King’s birthday.
-
Hybrid Working: A non-contractual hybrid arrangement (60% office/site-based) to support a healthy work-life balance.
-
Global Travel: Opportunity for UK-wide travel and occasional international trips to share intelligence with global partners.
