Maintenance Engineer (Dayshift) – Wellpark Brewery

The iconic Wellpark Brewery has been the beating heart of Glasgow for over 450 years. As the home of Tennent’s, we are Scotland’s leading brewer-led distributor, blending centuries of tradition with cutting-edge automated technology. We are built on a culture of trust and are looking for a dedicated Maintenance Engineer who takes pride in keeping a national treasure running smoothly. If you want to work where heritage meets modern high-speed manufacturing, Wellpark is the place to be.

About the Role

As a Maintenance Engineer on the Monday–Friday Dayshift, you are essential to our operational uptime. You will be responsible for the mechanical health of the brewery, performing a mix of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and rapid reactive repairs. You’ll be a problem-solver at heart, diagnosing faults in complex automated systems and machinery to ensure our famous products reach customers without delay. Beyond just “fixing things,” you will own your area’s maintenance list, manage spare parts, and contribute to long-term plant improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance Execution: Performing planned, corrective, and reactive tasks to maximize equipment reliability.

  • Specialized Systems: Maintaining and troubleshooting steam boiler systems, air compressors, and large-scale refrigeration plants.

  • Data Management: Meticulously logging all activities and technical anomalies in the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system.

  • Compliance: Upholding rigorous Health & Safety and Food Safety standards—critical in a high-volume FMCG environment.

  • Continuous Improvement: Applying 5S principles to maintain an organized workspace and identifying engineering solutions to increase efficiency.

  • Collaboration: Coordinating with external contractors and mentoring junior colleagues to foster a technically strong team.

About You

  • Qualifications: Completion of a recognized Engineering Apprenticeship is essential. An HNC or City & Guilds qualification is highly preferred.

  • Technical Bias: Ideally mechanically biased, though a multi-skilled approach is welcomed.

  • Industry Experience: Proven background in production or manufacturing, with FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) experience being a distinct advantage.

  • Problem Solving: A logical thinker with the ability to diagnose complex mechanical and automated faults independently.

  • Soft Skills: Strong numerical, verbal, and written communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Motivation: A proactive, results-driven individual who is eager to learn and take on the unique challenges of a historic brewery.

Why Join the Tennent’s Team?

This is more than just an engineering job; it’s a chance to maintain the machinery that defines Scottish hospitality. You’ll enjoy the stability of a Monday–Friday Dayshift schedule, allowing for an excellent work-life balance while still having the opportunity to support peak production periods with overtime. We offer a dynamic work environment where your expertise is valued, your professional development is supported through training, and you are empowered to lead plant improvements that will impact the brewery for years to come.
