Maintenance and Facilities Officer
Location: Bristol and South Gloucestershire
Contract: Permanent
Working Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week)
Salary Range: £24,000 – £27,000 per annum (based on skills and experience)

Job Purpose
• To co-ordinate the security of LPW’s premises and sites, carrying out a program of repair and maintenance work and monitoring the repair and maintenance work of others. Monitor the upkeep of the school minibus and Pool Cars.
In this role, your primary areas of responsibility will be:
• Support the Facilities Manager in the day-to-day maintenance and safety of all sites.
• Carry out regular inspections, basic maintenance, and repairs.
• Spend 1–2 days per week based at our adventure playground, ensuring play structures and outdoor spaces are safe and compliant.
• Supervise builders and contractors and accompany pest control visits, ensuring works are carried out safely.
• Ensure our Hub and cars are locked and secured at the end of each working day.
• Assist with vehicle monitoring, including cleanliness, fuel levels, and basic safety checks.
• Greet visitors upon arrival, ensuring they sign in/out, are issued with visitor fobs, and are escorted if required.
• Support the Facilities Manager in maintaining the monthly H&S task tracker.
• Provide hands-on support for events, staff requests, and emergency situations.
• Be an active member of the Fire warden team.
• To carry out the responsibilities of the role in a way which reflects commitment to safeguarding CYP in accordance with LPW’s policies.
• Ensure that Child Protection requirements are complied with and where appropriate reported in accordance with agreed criteria;
• Ensure the welfare of CYP and highlight any safeguarding issues to relevant agencies;
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of legislation and opportunities relevant to CYP;
• Any other duties that may be required from time to time.
Your collaborative responsibilities with the Facilities Manager will be to:
• Ensure all health and safety standards are upheld across company premises and play environments.
• Carry out regular site inspections and follow up on required actions.
• Keep up-to-date and accurate compliance documentation for audits and reporting.
• Support and record termly H&S and Fire Warden meetings.
• Support the annual Health & Safety audit, ensuring preparation, attendance, and action tracking.
• Maintain accurate meter readings and ensure data is correctly uploaded and reviewed.
• Ensure all sites and vehicles are secured at the end of each working day.
• Coordinate kitchen and office stock management, ensuring adequate supplies across all sites.
• Contribute to the weekly management round-up report, providing updates on maintenance, safety actions, and planned works.
• Promote a positive health and safety culture across all teams and services.
• Communicate effectively with senior managers, site leads, and delivery teams regarding safety, maintenance, and facilities support issues.
Your Skills, Knowledge, Experience:
Essential:
• Proven knowledge and experience of building maintenance and/or facilities management (which is equivalent to GNVQ 2 level)
• Knowledge of effective facilities management including: site safety and security; ordering, controlling, receiving and delivering goods and services efficiently; recommending and undertaking routine repair and maintenance work.
• Willing to undertake training in relevant policies and procedures including Health and Safety (e.g. COSHH and Fire Safety)
Desirable:
• Previous experience of working in an environment with children and young people or school.
• A full ‘time served’ trade qualification (e.g. City and Guilds) or equivalent experience.
• A BTEC (or equivalent, including experience) in a discipline relevant to facilities management.
• Undertaken previous training in health and safety.
