Locum Consultant in Gastroenterology

This 12-month fixed-term position offers a welcoming environment for a Consultant Physician to contribute to a modern, consultant-led service while enjoying the world-class amenities and hospitality of Scotland’s largest city.


Core Requirements and Skills

  • Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register.

  • Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview.

  • CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once CESR is awarded.

  • Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

  • Full range of consultant services including inpatient and outpatient work, as well as endoscopy.

  • Contribute to the consultant on-call rota for gastroenterology, including GI bleeding and to downstream ward cover at weekends.


This role provides a significant opportunity to develop your specialist interests—whether in therapeutic endoscopy, IBD, hepatology, or nutrition—within a supportive and flexible framework.
