Job Description

Lecturer In Sports – Hull

Working Hours: 35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Salary: £25,500 – £39,267 FTE
Annual Leave: 42 days per annum (excluding bank holidays, plus up to 3 discretionary days over Christmas/New Year)

As our Lecturer in Sports, you will work primarily with students engaged across a range of courses, providing support needed to achieve their programme of study. The post-holder will need to be innovative in their teaching methods and responsible for aspects of leadership within the curriculum.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver teaching and learning to engage students of all ages and abilities.

  • Plan, prepare, and update teaching documentation including schemes of work, lesson plans, and online materials using Canvas.

  • Lead, coordinate, and support course activities to achieve curriculum targets.

  • Facilitate academic tutorials and support students’ qualification completion.

  • Participate in marketing, promotion, recruitment, and interviewing of students.

  • Assess, monitor, and record student feedback to support achievement using college data systems.

  • Lead and support IV/IQA processes within the curriculum area.

  • Contribute to quality assurance processes and curriculum design.

  • Attend meetings and communicate effectively with colleagues.

  • Maintain up-to-date subject knowledge through professional development.

Requirements:

  • Coaching or gym experience

  • Sport-related qualification

  • Cert. Ed/PGCE or willingness to work towards

  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English

  • Professional development within the industry

  • Ability to work professionally with colleagues, students, and external partners

  • Effective oral, written, and presentation skills

  • Ability to work with students in classroom, workshop, and one-to-one settings

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
