We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Junior Bookkeeper (Contractor) to support our Senior Bookkeeper in managing the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions across multiple companies.
This contractor position will focus on day-to-day transactional finance tasks, reconciliations, and financial queries while contributing to process improvements and providing cross
-team support. The ideal contractor will be able to work independently, remain flexible, and handle a fast-paced, high-volume environment with accuracy and professionalism.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable (AP):
• Process supplier invoices and card expenses.
• Ensure all invoices are accurately coded, approved, and entered into Xero.
• Assist with supplier reconciliations and respond to supplier queries professionally.
• Provide cover for finance team members and monitor shared finance inboxes for timely responses.
• Perform bank reconciliations.
Accounts Receivable (AR):
• Support raising customer invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely billing.
• Assist with credit control: chasing overdue payments, allocating receipts, and reconciling bank transactions.
• Maintain the AR ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Reconcile control accounts for multiple hotel booking platforms, ensuring all bookings, payments, and commissions are correctly recorded.
• Support customer queries with professional, friendly communication.
General Finance Support:
• Maintain accurate supplier and customer data for reporting purposes.
• Take a proactive approach to process improvement and workflow efficiency.
• Collaborate with internal teams (operations, sales, management) to resolve queries and ensure smooth financial processes.
Skills & Requirements
• Minimum 3+ years’ experience in Bookkeeping, AP, or AR roles.
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, reconciliations, and financial accuracy.
• Proficient in Xero and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent organisational skills with strong multitasking and prioritisation abilities.
• Confident communicator – approachable, collaborative, and able to build positive relationships with suppliers, customers, and colleagues.
• Proactive, solution-focused, and comfortable working under pressure.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Nice to have: Experience in hospitality or working across multiple entities.
